ShopRite LPGA Classic: A Celebration of Legacy, Rising Stars, and LPGA Momentum

The 2025 ShopRite LPGA Classic is set to return to Seaview Golf Club with a powerful mix of tradition, talent, and future-focused energy. Now in its 37th year, and with ShopRite celebrating its 31st season as title sponsor, this tournament continues to be a shining example of what long-term commitment can do for women’s golf.

This year’s field is one of the strongest in recent memory, featuring World No. 1 Nelly Korda and World No. 2 Jeeno Thitikul, along with a growing list of 20 major champions—and counting.

The Field: Big Names and Past Winners

Several past champions are making their return to Seaview, including Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome, Linnea Ström, Brooke Henderson, Annie Park, and Ashleigh Buhai. That mix of proven winners and current contenders guarantees a highly competitive week ahead.

Seventeen-year-old Gianna Clemente, one of golf’s most promising young players, is also back as a sponsor exemption and proud member of Team ShopRite—a new player-focused initiative highlighting LPGA ambassadors and growing talent.

“I played a U.S. Kids Golf event at Seaview when I was 7,” Clemente shared during the press conference. “Coming back now, as part of Team ShopRite, is such a full-circle moment. I’m very grateful for this opportunity.”

ShopRite’s Ongoing Legacy

Tournament Director Ryan Dever emphasized just how deep ShopRite’s support runs. Over the course of the event’s history, more than $40 million has been raised for charitable causes, including $1.5 million annually in recent years.

“ShopRite’s commitment has been long and meaningful,” Dever said. “And this year, we’re investing even more into the player experience with complimentary hotel accommodations for all LPGA competitors. That’s a big deal in this era of professional golf.”

On the fan side, new upgrades are coming to Seaview this year—including a public hospitality deck at the 18th green with umbrellas and elevated views, designed to make the experience even more welcoming for casual and returning fans alike.

Ström’s Miracle Win, Lincicome’s Heroic Shot

2024 champion Linnea Ström reflected on her dramatic Sunday finish, when she came from the bottom of the leaderboard to shoot a tournament-record 60 on Sunday and win the event in legendary fashion.

“I was just happy to make the cut,” she recalled. “My dad was there, and I told myself to just enjoy the day. I’d just seen my friend Linn Grant win on the DP World Tour that morning, and that inspired me. I went out there to have fun and post a number.”

Brittany Lincicome, who won in 2011, remembered an unforgettable moment that defined her victory: “I hit one of the most amazing shots of my life from a bush and made a downhill birdie putt on the final hole. This course really suits my aggressive style. I love going for the par 5s in two—and it’s one of those layouts where you just feel at ease.”

Both players emphasized how comfortable and player-friendly Seaview is. Ström described it as “a fun, makeable course” that challenges players when the wind picks up but always feels welcoming. “I’ve always stayed on site. The beach is nearby, and the fans are amazing. It’s one of my favorite tournaments and will likely hold my best memories.”

The Tournament’s Role in Player Development

Lincicome noted that ShopRite often serves as a breakthrough event for LPGA players: “The layout fits everyone’s game. You’ve got family and friends nearby, and that comfort leads to confidence. It’s the kind of course where a young player can come out, relax, and end up with a top 10—or even a win.”

This was echoed by Grant Boone, longtime play-by-play commentator for the LPGA on Golf Channel. “I’ve covered this tournament since 2000, and it’s become a roll call of LPGA greats. You don’t see many sponsors or events stick around this long. It really bridges the past and the present—from legends to new stars like Gianna.”

E-Cycling, Sustainability, and What’s New

One notable addition this year is the ACER E-Cycling Program. Fans attending the event are encouraged to bring old or unused electronics to be responsibly recycled at the entrance gate—part of the LPGA’s broader push for sustainability and community engagement.

Dever emphasized that “the sky is the limit for this event”. This tournament isn’t just maintaining its legacy—it’s growing. With ShopRite’s support, and initiatives like Team ShopRite, complimentary player lodging, and sustainability programs, the momentum going into this year—and the future—is real.
